David M. Thompson is a member of the firm’s elder law team, with a practice focused on long-term care planning, guardianships, Medicaid, veterans benefits and helping families navigate the complicated world of services available to seniors in Nebraska. David has presented and published on a wide range of topics, including legal and financial planning for long-term care, health care decision-making, and elder financial abuse. He is Board Chair of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Nebraska Chapter and Chair of the Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementia Advisory Council for the state of Nebraska. In his personal life, David is caregiver for his mother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016 and currently lives in a memory care unit. He also serves as guardian for numerous low-income, cognitively impaired seniors. David received his B.A. with high distinction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and he attended law school at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Northwestern University Law Review.
